Discovering Christian Symbols

It is very interesting that the early Christians used symbols to describe their faith.
The symbol for God and Christ for they are one, is a phoenix like bird, which can be found in many churches, depicted in many stained glass windows, and other objects.
The symbol of a phoenix was brought to the attention of Christians by St Clement an apostle of Paul,( do read my blog (Knights Holy Quest)strange bird and st clement).

It was common for Christians to use symbols in the early church, but it is also common for Christians today to use symbols such as the lamb of God, to describe Christ, and the description of a dove for the Holy Spirit.

We know that God is not a phoenix, and Christ is not literally a lamb, and the Holy Spirit is not literally a dove. Yet this is the way we describe them for it is a way for us to understand the Godhead.

Other symbols that God has revealed to us, is the order of angels,( which I have posted on my blog under the title, order of angels).

Today I hope that this teaching on God’s Christian symbols will be an encouragement to you, and the next time that you visit a Christian church do look very carefully and you will be very surprised at what you will discover.

God's order of angels

Ancient Of Days Is Jesus Christ Commander In Chief Of Angelic Host Of Heaven

There are four orders of angels
Order ones symbol is a face of an angel in the likeness of a Man, meaning most powerful.
Order one
Archangel Holy Michael
Archangel Holy Raphael
Archangel Holy Gabriel
Archangel Holy Phanuel
These are the four angels of the Most High God, these angels watch the earth, these four angel stand at the four sides of God’s throne, having power with God.

Order Two Of Angels
The symbol for the order two of angels is an eagle meaning it watches, like an eye of an eagle the people of the earth.
Archangel Holy Uriel
Archangel Holy Raguel
Archangel Holy Sarakiel
Archangel Holy Suryal
Archangel Holy Rakael
These angels look down from heaven, and see the quantity of blood which is shed on earth, and all the iniquity which is done upon it, and say one to another, “ it is the voice of their cries, the earth is deprived of her children, and their cries have even come to the gates of heaven.”
Yes, they see the blood and report it to the Most High the Great and Holy One Jehovah.

Order Three Of Angels
The symbol is the lion for the order three, being guardians of the throne of God. Many palaces were guarded by lions in ancient times.
Angels Seraphim
Angels Cherubim
Angels Ophanin
These angels never sleep but watch the throne of God’s glory.

Order Four Of Angels
The symbol is a bull, representing God’s cattle on a thousand hills, so His angels are.

Angels innumerable
Angels thousands of thusands
Angels myriads

All names of other angels fall under these titles.
These angels surround the habitation of God’s throne, singing before God having the appearance like unto a blazing fire, their mouths being full of blessings and their lips glorifying the name of Jesus……..
The Lord has set before us this day His order of angels. And also the Lord’s order has gone forth today,” whosoever offereth praise glorifieth me and to him that ordereth his conversation alright will I show the salvation of God” Psalm 50v 23.
We order our conversation by confessing Jesus Christ as Lord of Lords and King of Kings, then we with a repentant heart towards God through Jesus Christ will receive the salvation of God. Praise God forever more.

Ordained to eternal life.

Archangels they are the highest ranking angels. Archangels Michael and Gabriel
The word archangel comes from the Greek αρχάγγελος (archangělǒs), meaning chief angel.

Ordained to eternal life.

“And as many as were ordained to
eternal life believed”
This word which our Almighty God has given to us goes without saying, that if people in this world are not chosen by God, then they cannot be saved. For by God’s grace we are saved through Christ Jesus, who is the gift of God.

Well you may say if this is the case, then how can God find fault with those who refuse to believe, for God has not chosen them. But what right have we to question God? He made some of us for eternal life, but not all, the Holy Scriptures says, that He has also made the wicked for the day of evil.

“The Lord hath made all things for himself; yea, even the wicked for the day of evil”. “Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? {Romans 9 v 21}. & {Proverbs 16 v 4}.

Jesus said, “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you”. {John 15:16}.
Now the people whom God has chosen, He has decided to save them through the cross of Jesus, for it pleased God by the preaching of the gospel to save them that believe, that is why Jesus has told us that we must go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. “He that believeth and is baptised shall be saved; But he that believeth not shall be damned”. {St Mark 16 v 15&16}.

Well, you may say these are strong words that Jesus has spoken, but this is how it shall be. Let us always serve God acceptably with reverence and Godly fear, for our God is a consuming fire as the Bible says. Let us never take His name or His word lightly, for today we hear of many people taking His Holy name in vain, and I am not speaking about people of the world.

For we know that they are ignorant to God’s word and we expect nothing else from them. But when it comes to the church it gives me so much pain to hear of our Saviours name spoken of so irreverently, and jokes about passages in the Bible. It must grieve the Holy Ghost so much, that He just walks away. Many times during services when they were in full swing, my wife and I have had to walk out, leaving them to their ignorance.

Let us always be very sensitive to the presence of the Holy Ghost, for He is God. If we want His powerful presence today to change lives we must always have reverence with Godly fear, for He has chosen us for salvation in Christ Jesus, and we are ordained to eternal life because we believe and we are chosen.

I thank the Lord always for you all, because God has chosen everyone of you for eternal life and I know that Jesus is praying for all of us who truly love Him and who try our very best to obey His Word. For Jesus said, “I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hath given me; for they are thine”. {St John 17 v 9}.

“According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love” {Ephesians 1 v 4}.

I need Thee, precious Saviour, I need Thee day by day, To fill me with Thy fullness,
To lead me on my way: I need Thy Holy Spirit To teach me what I am,
To show me more of Jesus, To point me to the Lamb

Cherubim and Seraphim angels

Cherubim angels they are the guardians of light and of the stars.
They have four faces: one of a man, ox, lion, and eagle. Ezekiel (Chapter 10).
They have four conjoined wings covered with eyes, and they have ox's feet.

Seraphim angels mentioned in Isaiah 6:1—7, serve as the caretakers of God's throne and continuously singing his praises: "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts. All the earth is filled with His Glory."
The Seraphim have six wings; two covering their faces, two covering their feet, and two with which they fly. (See also Revelation 4:8.)

The Chosen Ones

Have you come across the word predestinated in the Holy Scriptures and wondered what it really means? Well, in the book of Ephesians 1vs 4, 5 & 11 it is written:
“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundations of the world that we should be Holy and without blame before him in love.”
“Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself according to the good pleasure of his will.”

“In whom also we have obtained an inheritance being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the council of his own will.”
You see, God’s word makes it very clear that he has chosen us, we did not choose him. {John 15 v 16}, “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you.”

Now before one piece of rock was created God knew us, and chose us to be saved through his Son Jesus. Yes, just think for one moment, before you did right or wrong, he had already decided to save you, that is why you will praise him forever. How wonderful the love of God is that we should be called the children of God, yes the chosen ones.

Now by faith in Christ Jesus we can boldly say that our names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Surely our praise to God our Father will ring out for eternity, yes, we will forever give praise and thanks giving for his mercy, which he has shown us in Jesus. “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus,” {Galatians 3 v 26}.

Thrones and Dominions angels

Thrones angels have as one of their symbols the throne. These high celestial beings are mentioned in Revelation 11.16

Dominions angels are believed to look like divinely beautiful humans with a pair of feathered wings, much like the common representation of Angels, but they are physically characterized from other groups as wielding orbs of light fastened to the heads of their scepters or on the pommel of their swords.
